When a cold southerly has hit the Queenstown region the South Harris Mountains are the place to be. South from the ski area is a ski playground with terrain to suit all tastes. Long, mainly west facing runs dominate this remote corner to the north the high peaks of Mount Cook National Park to the south the blue waters of Lake Ohau, just a stunning place to be and numerous first descents still to be completed. Stunning views over Lake Pukaki and Mt Cook National Park combine with consistently steep and challenging terrain. Harris Mountains Heli ski operate in New Zealand's stunning Southern Alps surrounding the international resort towns of Queenstown and Wanaka and into the Mount Cook National Park region.
Runs vary between 200 to 3500 vertical feet of treeless skiing in sheltered basins, bowls and wide rolling mountain flanks through to steep and gnarly chutes. Harris Mountain Heli ski's operations include the famous Harris Mountains and Buchanans Range, and Mount Cook region, New Zealand’s highest mountain. Apr s ski is alive and well in the many bars and cafes of the town centre. Located in Wanaka’s Buchanan mountain ranges near Mount Aspiring, right in our heli skiing terrain.

In addition to their technical qualifications, they have strong interpersonal and communication skills and a genuine love of the sport of skiing. All our guides are trained in avalanche science and actively contribute to our avalanche safety programme. In that briefing, we teach the use of avalanche transceivers, helicopter and mountain safety.
Our professionally trained helicopter pilots have specific experience flying in New Zealand’s alpine environments, and all of our crew are qualified to ensure your safety both in the air and on the ground during heli skiing.
