What you should know about ridgeline adventures
We appreciate how very, very lucky we are to call New Zealand home and consider ourselves fortunate to be able to share some of Wanaka's hidden scenic and historical secrets to visitors from all over the world. Not a day goes by where we don't stop and appreciate the simple pleasures of living in one of the most beautiful places on earth. I grew up on a farm in South Canterbury, nursed in Christchurch before moving permanently to Wanaka where I have been for the past forty two years farming and raising a family of two children and now have five grandchildren. With my nursing background I undertook voluntary ambulance work for many years along with instructing outdoor first aid for Mountain Safety.
I have cycled in Australia for three months from south to north then east to west guiding and cooking for two Aussie groups which was a challenge!. I grew up in South of the South Island near the 'Catlins', another unspoiled part of New Zealand. My wife and I have been together for 39 years raising three daughters and now have seven grandchildren. Ridgeline Adventures is 100 Wanaka owned and operated by Mark and Ceri Orbell.
We are very lucky to have an exceptional pool of guides, all with a passion for Wanaka's incredible environment and a wealth of local knowledge to share. One of my earliest childhood memories is my parents showing visitors from overseas around our sheep farm near Dunedin, I guess with this background the great outdoors and international visitors have read more. I farmed sheep and cattle there for most of my working life
